LMRA bid to help migrant workers

A series of programmes focusing on providing support for migrant workers in Bahrain will be held in the coming week.It will kick off tomorrow with a two-day workshop on fair recruitment followed by the opening on Sunday of a national centre to tackle human trafficking, which will provide temporary shelter for victims. 2,000 expats miss out on amnesty

At least 2,000 migrant workers living illegally in Bahrain are not covered under an amnesty that allows them to return home without penalties.These Bangladeshi men either have pending court cases, no legal documents, overstayed their visit visas, entered the country during transit or used forged documents to travel.

LMRA allows under travel ban expats to obtain work permits

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Ministry of Justice regarding expats with a court-ordered Travel Ban, where they will be allowed to obtain a Work Permit, and subsequently legalize their presence in the Kingdom. Continue reading
