All applications for new work visas will have to have a copy of the prospective foreign worker’s contract, a copy of the employing firm’s electricity bill and a health certificate for the employee, a Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) official said yesterday.
ILLEGAL residents in Bahrain are being given another chance to leave the country without fear of prosecution, officials have announced.
Expatriates who have overstayed their resident permit or not been able to renew their visas are being urged to approach their embassy for help to return home.
Bahrain’s labour market regulatory authority (LMRA) said that embassies and consulates should be actively engaged in addressing the issue of their nationals staying illegally in the country.

Bahrain’s labour market reforms have started to increase the cost of foreign workers to the benefit of locals, a government official said, with the government now working on introducing caps on foreign labour.
