LMRA efforts to combat human trafficking lauded

Manama, Apr. 17 (BNA): CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Osama Al Absi, today received a delegation from the USA Congress currently on a visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Al Absi gave a brief on the latest reforms introduced to the labour market and efforts to address the phenomenon of illegal labour and the fight against trafficking in persons.

He stressed keenness on protecting the expat labour’s rights through benefiting from international expertise.

He gave an overview of the first center in the Gulf region established in Bahrain for accommodating human trafficking victims. He pointed out the LMRA endeavour in raising the expat labour’s awareness of their rights and duties.

The US delegation praised the LMRA efforts in protecting the expat labour’s rights and addressing human trafficking.
