Foreign minister receives LMRA chief

Manama, Apr. 23 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa ,received today the CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Ausamah Al Absi.

The Minister welcomed Al-Absi, who presented him with a handbook titled “National Referral System for Victims of Trafficking in Persons”, which highlights the role of governmental and non-governmental entities in combating this crime within the vision and mechanisms of the National Strategy for Combating the Trafficking in Persons. He furthermore praised the efforts of the LMRA in combating this crime by developing monitoring mechanisms and increasing awareness about the danger of this phenomenon.

He also highlighted the steps undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to combat this crime as well as efforts to support and protect migrant workers and developing the labor market through updating laws and regulations to balance the rights of workers and the rights of employers creating a good work environment.
LMRA’s CEO expressed his appreciation of the standing and continuous cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the LMRA. He also highlighted the Minister’s support the LMRA and the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons’ activities and programs.
