LMRA: action against an employment agency on charges of trafficking in persons

The Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has taken a series of immediate deterrent measures against an employment agency after committing offenses classified as suspicion of trafficking in persons.

(LMRA) said that as soon as it received information, that one of the employment agencies’ recruitment agency published a promotional advertisement entitled “Win a Domestic Worker”. Immediate measures were taken, including suspending the license of the concerned employment agency.

LMRA CEO, and Head of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons Ausamah Alabsi, directed the concerned departments to take a series of immediate measures, summon the owner of the concerned employment agency, investigate the suspicion of trafficking and take legal and administrative action.

Alabsi stressed that respect for the rights and equality of individuals is an integral part of the community and culture in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is based on the equality of all human beings regardless of distinctions.

He further assured that LMRA will not hesitate to take necessary measures against any suspicion of trafficking in persons, stressing that these legal measures aim to protect the rights of all workers, especially the household, and reflect the Kingdom’s international obligations to human rights.
