EMPLOYERS in Bahrain have until Wednesday to pay outstanding fees to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), or risk having all their foreign workers’ visas cancelled.
The measure will also include employers who have failed to register and update their information, as well as those who have not renewed their employees’ expired work visas, said LMRA chief executive Ali Radhi.

THE number of foreign workers in Bahrain shot up by a record 18.8 per cent in the first quarter of this year, over the same time last year.
The figure soared by 71,000 over the same quarter last year, Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) officials announced at a Press conference.

MANAMA: Bahrain will make regional history on August 1 by scrapping the sponsorship system. Labour Minister Dr Majeed Al Alawi revealed the date after attending a multi-party meeting convened by Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) chairman Dr Essam Fakhro.
The new-look law governing work contracts will be subjected to periodic assessment to evaluate its viability.

OPPONENTS to a tax on foreign workers have called off their weekly protests, but now hope to recruit thousands of Bahraini bosses into their campaign.
Private businesses were expected to resume their protest outside the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) for the fourth Sunday running yesterday.

EXPATRIATES who have failed to regularise their visas due to a backlog of cases at the Health Ministry will be given one last chance to become legal, officials have declared.

LMRA officials say, they have a big workload and that’s the reason for delays and confusion.
Why don’t they employ more Bahrainis then?
Ask anyone who has been to the LMRA, how much time consuming the visit is.
Why don’t they create employment for Bahrainis instead of enforcing Bahrainisation on other private companies?
