Labour Minister challenges heat

Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan paid several surprise visits to worksites across the Kingdom on Tuesday.The visit was made to ensure companies’ commitment to the ministry’s summer work ban, which prohibits outdoor labourers to work between 12pm and 4pm in July and August.During the visit, Mr. Humaidan met worksite supervisors and discussed their observations and requirements. LMRA CEO Receives Chinese Deputy Chief of Mission

LMRA chief Executive Mr. Ausamah Bin Abdulla Alabsi received Chinese Deputy Chief of Mission to the Kingdom Mr. Chen Yewah. The Deputy Chief of the Mission praised the experience of the labor market which is aimed to preserve the rights of expatriate employees, he acknowledged the outstanding efforts made by the LMRA to create an integrated system that speeds up the process of registering and regulating expatriate employees. Sharp drop in maid abuse cases

There has been a drop in the number of foreign housemaids coming forward with allegations of abuse during Ramadan. In previous years, extended working hours and allegations of general mistreatment during the Muslim holy month were blamed for large numbers of domestic workers fleeing their employers and seeking shelter.
