EXTEND LMRA FEES FREEZE

MANAMA: Bahrain’s businessmen have demanded authorities push back a freeze on fees for foreign workers to the end of the year.

LMRA enrolment mandatory for expats

Foreign workers who have not completed their enrolment process at the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) will not be allowed to renew their work visas or change jobs from July 1.

As per the new regulations, employers will also be penalised if they fail to ensure that their expatriate workers are enrolled at the LMRA.

Failure to do this by the end of this month will mean that the employer’s transactions with LMRA will be suspended. Continue reading

A Labour Ministry official yesterday urged workers to opt for certified labour accommodation so that the authorities can intervene and take necessary action during emergencies. After two months of agony and uncertainty, two Indian workers left for their homes in India, thanks to the timely efforts by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). Update contact details call

AUTHORITIES are urging expatriates in Bahrain to update their contact details to receive the latest information on their legal status.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority has posted an alert on its official website, www.lmra.bh, advising residents to submit their mobile phone numbers so they could receive text messages about the expiration status of their passports and residence permits, among other notifications.

“We have looked into the contact details in our system and found that many contact numbers/e-mail addresses are not correct,” it said on its website.

Guide for expat workers on way
