His Majesty King Hamad yesterday praised Bahrain’s achievements in combating human trafficking.This came as he received at Safriya Palace US Ambassador Justin Siberell, who presented the US Department of State report on upgrading Bahrain to Tier 1 status in recognition of its commitment to combating trafficking.
The King took pride in Bahrain’s international achievement as the first Arab state to reach Tier 1 in the Trafficking in Persons (TiP) Report.
He commended the efforts of the Foreign Ministry, Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons.
He said the achievement reflects Bahrain’s commitment to international standards, joining the international community’s efforts to fight trafficking in persons and bolstering the culture of human rights based on principles of respect, equality and justice.
The King lauded longstanding relations and solid partnership with the US based on trust, respect and co-ordination.
He noted progressing relations highlighted by mutual desire to further boost them in various fields.
The King pointed out US efforts in co-operation with its allies and friends to maintain security and stability in the region, underlining Bahrain’s support for the same.
