Foreign Minister receives LMRA CEO

Foreign Affairs Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa received the Chief Executive of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) who is also Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons (NCCTP), Osama bin Abdullah Al Absi.

The Minister welcomed Al Absi who handed him a copy of the US Department of State’s report on classification of states in combating trafficking in persons and praised Bahrain’s achievement, as it was the first State to reach Tier 1 status on this report in the entire Middle East and North Africa region (MENA).

He also commended LMRA efforts to ensure the highest standards of human rights commitment and to engage in constructive cooperation with regional and international bodies in this regard.

Shaikh Khalid congratulated Al Absi for having been honoured at the ceremony recently held by the US Department of State to announce the annual report, saying that the honour was the ultimate result of LMRA strenuous efforts to ensure a safe environment for expatriate workers and adopt the best practices in combating trafficking in persons.

LMRA CEO appreciated the important role played by Foreign Affairs Ministry to enable Bahrain to reach Tier 1 status on US Department of State TIP report and affirmed that NCCTP would continue its efforts to reinforce the Kingdom’s advanced global position.
