Expat labour protection policy praised

Manama, Feb. 19 (BNA): Labour Market Regulatory Authority CEO also Head of National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Osama Al-Absi, today received a United States congressional delegation.

Al-Absi briefed the US delegation on Bahrain’s legislative and laws for the protection of expats labour, the establishment of a centre to support and protect expatriate workers that includes a shelter for human trafficking victims.

He reviewed Bahrain’s efforts in upgrading the LMRA and maintaining a healthy work environment and ensuring the expat labour and employers’ rights and responsibilities.

The US delegation lauded Bahrain’s efforts to protect expat labour in conformity with international conventions and agreements, as well as fighting human trafficking.
