National efforts in combating human trafficking stressed

Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) CEO, also Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Ausamah bin Abdullah Al-Absi, today received an Indonesia parliamentary delegation led by Chairman of Bahraini -Indonesian Friendship Group, MP Aseeb Mawsoul.

MP Abbas Madhi accompanied the Indonesian delegation.

Al-Absi briefed the delegation on Labour Market Reform Project and the executive steps to address the irregular employment issue, as well as the national efforts in fighting human trafficking.

He gave an overview of the first center in the Gulf region established in Bahrain for accommodating human trafficking victims, or potential and presumed victims of the same.

He pointed that the move aims to raise the awareness of expat labour of their rights and duties.

The Indonesian delegation lauded the LMRA efforts in raising the awareness of the expat labour of their rights and the operative laws and regulations, as well as Bahrain’s efforts in combating human trafficking.
