How much longer, LMRA?

I don’t understand one thing about the working system at the ministries and government offices and that is why it takes aeon for a simple task like updating records on computers when it is just a click away. A case in point is the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).

Our company was one of the first to register its employees with the LMRA. After everything was done, we got our passports with renewed residence permits and new updated CPRs.

LMRA updates to continue as usual

THE Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) said yesterday that Bangladeshis in Bahrain are still required to register, despite their work permits not being renewed following the ban.

“While fresh work permits and renewals have been banned, there is no reason why they should not come and get themselves registered and fingerprinted,” LMRA chief executive Ali Radhi told the GDN.

Do drivers register?

I WOULD like to know about the registration with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) regarding domestic drivers.

Is it compulsory for them to register? If so, what are the requirements?

A friend of mine who is working at a ministry wants to know whether registration with the LMRA is compulsory for him.

However, they can still enrol (register) now at our enrolment centre in Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, until June 21.”

More counters?

I HAVE visited all LMRA registration centres including those in Saar, Hidd, Sitra and even the Indian Club to get registered. I even went to the centre they opened at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre last week, but all of them were quite disorganised, to say the least.

All centres have only one registration counter to process data of not less than 200-300 people at any given time.

With reference to Mrs June M Al Saffar letter (GDN, May 25) “How much cleansing?”, we would like to clear everyone’s confusion between the employee’s enrolment and the data cleansing processes.

There are general misconceptions that once employees have been enrolled, they are automatically cleansed, or that we need the employees again in order to complete the data cleansing!

By BEGENA P PRADEEP

Thousands of expatriates who turned up at The Indian Club yesterday to register themselves with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) ended up causing chaos and damaging club property.
