MORE than 25,000 companies have so far paid the first monthly bill for employing expatriates to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), say officials.
The July invoices were sent to more than 50,000 companies by early last month and last month’s invoices by last Saturday.
A quarter of Labour Market Regulatory Authority invoices have been paid to date, it was revealed.
The LMRA has issued a total 45,000 invoices since the decision to levy fees on expatriate workers took effect last July.

According to the contract, they are liable to deduct the visa, CPR and air ticket expenditure from me for employment in Bahrain.

A NEW levy on expatriate employees will pump BD3 million a month into Bahrain’s coffers.

Seventy LMRA inspectors, using hi-tech equipment, are inspecting work places to eliminate any illegal practices in the labour market, said officials.

THE Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) will officially start accepting applications for issuing new work visas for expatriates from tomorrow, taking over from the Labour Ministry. Only those private sector employers, who have cleansed the data of their employees with LMRA, can apply for work visas for their new workers, LMRA chief executive Ali Radhi told the GDN.
