Employers wishing to exceed their regular quota will have to pay an additional BD300 for each extra expatriate worker they hire – on the basis of BD150 annually. Apart from the additional fees, employers will still be required to pay the regular two-year BD200 levy and monthly fees on each foreign worker. Companies warned over Bahrainisation

Employers who fail to adhere to Bahrainisation quotas will be fined or have work permits cancelled, a top official warned. The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has accused employers of consistently abusing the Bahrainisation Law, which states that a Bahraini has to be hired for every four foreign workers. Ultimatum to job agencies

Bahrain: More than 100 manpower agencies could lose their licences because they refuse to pay a BD10,000 deposit as part of rules to regulate the recruitment field in Bahrain.

Amnesty jobs joy for 16,000

AROUND 16,000 illegal residents have found legitimate jobs in Bahrain since a six-month amnesty began on July 1, it has emerged. New figures were announced yesterday by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), which said most of those who legalised their stay were Bangladeshis, Indians and Pakistanis.
