The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA)’s CEO Ausamah bin Abdullah Al-Absi on Sunday received the Philippines Republic’s Department of Labour (DOLE)’s Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz and her accompanying delegation in the presence of senior LMRA officials and explored with her ways of boosting the bilateral cooperation and exchanging of expertise in the field of labour market regulation in addition to the situation of Philippines expatriate workers in Bahrain.

LMRA Board of Directors Directs for more Facilities and Flexibility in Issuing Domestic Employees Licences

LMRA Board of Directors, HE Minister of Labour  and Chairman of the Board Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan confirmed that LMRA is efficiently completing the tasks of issuing licences of domestic expatriate employees and their equivalents after the transition of the custody from Ministry of Labour and the start of official presentation of the service in LMRA at the beginning of September 2014, showing satisfaction with the transmission of domestic expatriate employees licenses tasks to LMRA smoothly, and pointing to the positive reactions of public beneficiaries of LMRA services. Clampdown on ‘hourly maids’

Employment agencies illegally offering housemaids by the hour face a crackdown from authorities, despite a leading workers’ rights activist’s calls to legalise the practice. Responding to recent reports of agency cars driving around Manama advertising ‘housemaid services on hourly basis’, Labour Ministry Under-Secretary Sabah Al Dossary told the GDN that these businesses were circumventing the law by cutting deals with third-party cleaning companies.
