OPPONENTS to a tax on foreign workers have called off their weekly protests, but now hope to recruit thousands of Bahraini bosses into their campaign.
Private businesses were expected to resume their protest outside the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) for the fourth Sunday running yesterday.

EXPATRIATES who have failed to regularise their visas due to a backlog of cases at the Health Ministry will be given one last chance to become legal, officials have declared.

Why don’t they employ more Bahrainis then?
Ask anyone who has been to the LMRA, how much time consuming the visit is.
Why don’t they create employment for Bahrainis instead of enforcing Bahrainisation on other private companies?

CONTRACTORS who took to the streets in protest over “crippling” labour fees have been asked to prove that their businesses have declined.
The call came from Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) chief executive Ali Radhi, who said the majority of companies had applied for more work visas in recent months.
“This does not justify their claim that the BD10 per month fee per expatriate worker would force them out of business,” he told the GDN. Continue reading

NURSES working in private hospitals have also been exempted from the government’s new sponsorship rules, it was revealed yesterday.
This means they can continue under their husbands’ sponsorship while working for health institutions.
