Nearly 75 per cent of 45,000 employers have not paid the monthly levy of BD10 charged for each expatriate worker in their employment, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) said yesterday. “This is despite the fact that we had allowed some leniency to employers to pay the bills,” LMRA CEO Ali Radhi said. IS the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) another Gosi? Who introduced a drastically-failed system and for what purpose?

Earlier, I was paying approximately BD200 for a new work permit for two years, plus BD200 to get my application passed/service charge, and BD600 (BD100 x two Bahrainis’ salaries x three months). That equals BD1,000 for getting one work permit.
