No missing amounts

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) yesterday issued a joint statement with Tamkeen stating that there are no variations or “missing amounts” in the financial accounts of Tamkeen. We must work together

Free medical camp for 250 workers
MORE than 250 workers are expected to benefit from free medical checks being organised by the Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) tomorrow.
Examinations will be given from 7pm at the labour accommodation of Mohammed Ahmadi Company, in Buquwara, by senior medical consultants who will also provide health awareness and safety tips. Continue reading
LMRA CEO to help child cancer patient
The LMRA chief has extended support to a cancer stricken boy, by allowing him and his mother to stay in Bahrain until his therapy is compeleted.
The child, Adil Hussain, 5, lost his father in a car accident. On Tuesday, the man, Sabir Hussain Gulfar Hussain, was hit by a car while he was out for a walk. Continue reading
LMRA to halt eTranscations on
All LMRA electronic transactions will be suspended on Tuesday to undertake system maintenance and upgrading.
Services will return to normalcy on Wednesday.
LMRA officials noted that users might also face some delays and slowness until May 3, due to the continuation of testing and upgrading work
Protection vow
A NEW push to increase protection of domestic workers has been rolled out by labour chiefs from Bahrain and across the region during a major forum in Manila, the Philippines.
They have agreed to fast-track repatriation of migrant workers, particularly women, at times of security crisis and assign government teams to closely monitor the recruitment of labourers. Continue reading

MANAMA: A string of measures were yesterday launched to ease pressure on Bahrain’s trade sectors. The freeze on fees levied by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has been extended until June 31. The moratorium which took effect last April, was scheduled to end late this month. It is a welcome step by LMRA in taking action to bring in more safeguards to protect the interests of domestic workers. A substantial number of people are involved and their contribution to day-to-day life is very significant.
