Bahrain to spearhead anti-trafficking drive
AN anti-human trafficking centre that will provide training to experts around the region is expected to open soon in Bahrain.
The state-of-the-art facility will have access to a digital database that contains details of victims, trafficking routes, court verdicts and other information to identify trends globally.
It is being spearheaded by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in co-operation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Continue reading

VICTIMS of human trafficking in Bahrain will receive monthly allowances as part of a government initiative, it was revealed. However, the Victims Assistance Fund will only assist those whose cases are in the court.
Dhaka delegation in talks over clamp on illegal workers
A STRATEGY to eliminate visa traders and enforce tighter immigration rules will aim to tackle illegal workers entering Bahrain from Bangladesh. SIXTEEN women have been rescued during raids conducted on recruitment offices, it has emerged.

Pre-employment health checks for expatriates privatized
PRIVATISATION of pre-employment medical tests for newly-hired expatriates in Bahrain is expected to bring down Health Ministry’s spending in this sector by more than 50 per cent. New contracts for domestic workers to be enforced from October 1
