NEARLY half of the work visas issued by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority are now processed within 24 hours, a top official has revealed.
Out of 13,200 issued last month, more than 6,300 were processed within a day, said Interior Ministry Nationality, Passports and Residence assistant under-secretary Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa.

DESPERATE expatriate housewives may soon be allowed to work in more professions in Bahrain.
They are currently only allowed to work as teachers, medical professionals and in top managerial positions in the banking sector.

A CALL to reserve all jobs as clearing agents for Bahrainis went out to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) yesterday.
The LMRA, which took over the responsibility of issuing work permits to expatriates in July last year, allows companies to assign two representatives each, whether Bahraini or non-Bahraini, to clear documents with the authority.
