The National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons Holds First Meeting After Reformation

The National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons held its first meeting after its recent reformation, chaired by the LMRA Chief Executive Officer, Her Excellency Nouf Abdulrahman Jamsheer.

At the outset, Jamsheer welcomed the new members and expressed her appreciation for the trust placed in all of them as representatives of the concerned agencies in the Kingdom.

Jamsheer, on behalf of the Committee, extended her sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s achievement of the “Tier 1” status in the US State Department’s report on the classification of countries in the field of combating trafficking in persons for the sixth consecutive year, noting that this achievement reflects the significant and sustainable efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to maintain a stable and fair work environment.

She added that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pioneering regional role in the field of combating trafficking in persona reflects its commitment to preserving and safeguarding the rights of all work parties, in accordance with clear legal, legislative and procedural frameworks.

The meeting discussed a number of topics on the agenda and delved into internal  procedures, as well as a review of the current policies aimed at combating trafficking in persons in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and reviewing the most prominent points mentioned in the report of the US Department of State, in order to build on, and strengthen, combatting trafficking in persons on all levels.
