LMRA CEO Meets the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

Her Excellency Mrs. Nouf Abdulrahman Jamsheer, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Head of the National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, received in the Authority’s Headquarters, Her Excellency Mrs. H.M.G.R. R.K. Wijeratne Mendis, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Her Excellency also congratulated the Sri Lankan ambassador on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the opening of the Sri Lankan embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and emphasized the importance of the coordination between diplomatic missions and government authorities in creating awareness on the rights of workers and obligations to the rules and laws in the country.

Jamsheer discussed with the Ambassador the conditions of the Sri Lankan workers in the Kingdom and prospects for further cooperation between the Authority and the Embassy, stressing the Kingdom’s commitment to continuously develop the work environment to maintain stable working relationships that preserve the rights of all work parties without discrimination.

Jamsheer briefed the Ambassador on the new developments in the labour market, highlighting the implementation of a number of initiatives that contribute to enhancing the work environment, preserve the rights of all work parties, and provide protection to workers without prejudice, including the Labour Registration Program, the Optional Insurance System for Domestic Workers and the Wages Protection System.
