Manama, Jan. 9 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister and the Board of Directors Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has stressed that the labour market is going through a critical situation requiring a strategic vision that contributes to strengthening the kingdom’s investment atmosphere and maintaining its pioneering position as an investment-attracting destination.
The current situation also requires taking more steps to enhance the kingdom’s status and ability to attract local and foreign capitals that are capable of pushing the economic growth further and generating more job opportunities for the citizens, he said while chairing the first meeting of the newly-restructured LMRA Board of Directors.
He also stressed the importance of taking the rights and interest of work parties into account, being on top of the government’s interests, pledging that more efforts will be made to develop LMRA’s work, commensurate with the latest developments.
He congratulated the board members on the precious royal trust bestowed upon them, stressing the need to spare no effort in order to overcome the challenges and meet the royal vision of consolidating the labour market’s principles based on sustainability, fairness and competitiveness.
He affirmed that LMRA’s priorities and projects are determined according to the directives and aspirations of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He expressed thanks and appreciation to the members of the previous board for their efforts and keenness to improve the quality of the services delivered to various social segments.
He also praised the level of LMRA’s ongoing cooperation and coordination with various government entities and private establishments, stressing that the private and labour sectors are basic pillars of LMRA’s work.
Members of the new LMRA board expressed pride in the precious royal trust, pledging to do their utmost to maintain the advanced level of the labour environment in the kingdom, ensure the rights of all work parties, support the private sector, create opportunities for the citizens to contribute to economic activities and continue creating job opportunities that appeal to the citizens, in line with HM the King’s vision on making the citizens the centre of the development process and its ultimate goal.
The panel elected the Chief Executive Officer of the Information and e-Government Authority, Ali Mohammed Al-Qaed, as Deputy Chairman of LMRA board, and formed the relevant committees.
It is to be noted that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Decree 83/2020, re-structuring the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), under the chairmanship of the Labour and Social Development Minister.
The decree stipulates that LMRA Board of Directors includes Mohammed Ali Mohammed Al-Qaed, Maha Abdulhamid Mufiz, Abdulrahman Saleh Al-Sinan, Ahmed Jaffar Al-Hayki , Mohammed Abduljabbar Al-Kooheji, Ahmed Abdulla bin Hindi Al-Mannai, Jaffar Khalil Ibrahim and Bassim Ali Siyadi as members for a four-year term.
