In line with a decision made by the Government Executive Committee, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, the Kingdom’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has today announced that the recruitment of domestic workers will recommence starting on 14 September 2020.
The LMRA noted that efforts are currently underway to coordinate with domestic expatriate employees employment offices, approved by the authority. This will ensure a smooth recruitment process which prioritises the health and safety of the Kingdom’s citizens and residents.
The LMRA highlighted the importance of an increased awareness and commitment by all to ensure mitigation efforts are supported to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). In this regard, the LMRA warned against dealing with unlicensed domestic expatriate employees employment offices, or using the services of domestic workers by the hour from unaccredited offices, which will have negative repercussions on the health of individuals, families and society.
The LMRA also stressed the importance of using approved domestic expatriate employees employment offices in order to safeguard the rights of beneficiaries and to ensure there are no violations of recruitment regulations. On this note, the LMRA noted the importance of regularly reviewing the list of approved domestic expatriate employees employment offices, which is updated on their website.
