Interior Minister holds remote meeting with Labour Minister, governors

Manama, Apr. 19 (BNA): Interior Minister, General Shaikh Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa today held an online meeting with Ministry of Labour and Social Development, Jameel bin Mohammed Humaidan.

Chief of Public Security, Chief Executive Officer of Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Governors participated in the remote meeting.

The Interior Minister welcomed the participants, and discussed with them methods to implement the directives of the Government Executive Committee, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

The panel assigned the Interior Ministry, Ministry of Labour and Social Development and the LMRA to ensure the implementation of precautionary measures for workers to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Interior Minister said that a group of companies would handle their workers, while illegal workers would be distributed among donated buildings or those suggested by the governorates.

The meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation between ministries and concerned authorities to create a record of labour accommodation areas and determine their capacities and sheltering priorities.

In this context, the Interior Minister asserted the importance of starting shifting and sheltering workers at the earliest after finalizing procedures and requirements through phases that the first one should end before Ramadan, taking into the consideration of the social distancing rules.

The meeting was also attended by Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training and Assistant Coordinator of Governorates.
