LMRA reforms progress reviewed

Manama, May 8 (BNA): CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, Ausamah Al-Absi, today reviewed with the UAE Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, Hameed Al- Suwaidi, the progress of the LMRA project.

Al-Absi gave an over view of the LMRA’s efforts to address the phenomena of irregular employment and trafficking in persons, as well as the flexible work permit system, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, under which irregular employment is enrolled in the system, providing that rights of all work parties are guaranteed.

A brief was also given on the expatriate employment management system within the one-stop transaction system.

The two sides discussed ways to boost cooperation in the field of information.

The UAE official praised the LMRA’s role in regulating the expatriate labour and efforts to combat trafficking in persons.
