Manama, Apr. 7 (BNA): The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) convened a board meeting which focused on its achievements over the past year. Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan chaired the session in the presence of LMRA Chief Executive Officer Ausamah-Al-Absi.
The minister commended LMRA-led efforts to streamline measures for citizens and businessmen, which would contribute to attracting the flow of investments to the Kingdom of Bahrain and improving the work environment and promoting employee’s rights.
The rate of employees who quit their jobs dropped to 0,45 % over the past year, pointing out international reports which cited Bahrain as one of the best destinations for overseas workers in 2016.
Citing updated statistics, he said that the LMRA issued an overall 198, 776 work permits, including 196,466 for workers, 1048 for temporary workers and 1,262 for investors.
The LMRA renewed 293,043 certificates, including 236,352 for workers and started processing 42, 868 demands for the transfer of foreign workers in 2016. A total of 30,298 applications have so far been approving for meeting the regulations.
