LMRA – Industry Ministry partnership planned

after_edit_2(1)The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has unveiled plans to step up inspections in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.LMRA Chief Executive Officer Ausamah bin Abdulla Al-Absi announced that a partnership would be set up with the ministry to inspect trade, industrial and tourism establishments.

“LMRA officials have reached an initial agreement with the ministry to conduct inspections so as to ensure private establishments abide by the rules and regulations governing their activities”, he said.

In a statement, he said that the planned partnership aims at protecting law-abiding businessmen as well as the national labour market in Bahrain.

Al-Absi held a meeting on March 5 with Industry and Commerce Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic Trade Hameed Rahma, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Management, Yousif Ali Hassan, Assistant Undersecretary for Metrology and Consumer Protection Dr. Abdulla Ahmed Abdulla, Corporate Affairs Director Ali Makki, Commercial Registration director Khalid Rabea and Tourism Control Chief Hamed Al-Bousta.

Al-Absi said that the two sides would exchange updated data online on inactive commercial registers and CRs-related violations, stressing the possibility of conducting joint field inspections.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) will also continue cooperating with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning to conduct daily joint inspections which target shopping malls and other venues across Bahrain as part of efforts to address the issue of illegal workers.
