Discussions to link Academic outputs with the requirements of the labour market
The CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Ausamah Bin Abdullah Al Absi received at his Office on Wednesday 11 February 2015, the President of Al Ahlia University Professor Abdullah Al Hawaj.
The discussions looked at means of cooperation between the LMRA and the University and the importance of linking Academic outputs with the requirement of the labour market as well as exchange of information between them.
Mr. Al Absi assured that the LMRA is ever ready to cooperate with all sectors of the society saying” that the LMRA as an executive organisation completes the other Public and private sector establishments in the Public interest, and to reach the objectives of regulating the labour Market to make the Bahraini employee the better choice for employment “
Mr. Al Absi pointed out the LMRA maintains one of the largest data bases for employees in the kingdom and employment trends which can provide a guideline for the nature of the labour market and its requirements and can cooperate with universities with this regard.
For his part the president of the Ahlia University Professor Abdulla Al Hawaj praised the level of cooperation given by the LMRA, complimenting the fast and positive response and flexibility of the LMRA adding that the information exchange will definitely help the University to direct its academic outputs to meet the requirements of the labour market.
Dr. Al Hawaj spoke about the “ta’heel” programme, rehabilitation programme introduced by the University which aims to enable the students and graduates of Ahlia University with practical aspects and the skills required to enter the labour market, in line with the latest requirements jobs available currently and in future.
He added that this rehabilitation programme provides support for the students and graduates on one aspect and the public and private sector establishments, employers on the other hand via active partnership between all parties along with the vocational relations department under the student affairs at Ahlia University.
The meeting was attended by the dean of student affairs at the university Dr, Mansoor Al AAli and the vocational relations manager Mr. Hassan Habib and Ms Hana al Safar the public relations manager at LMRA.
