LMRA: 21,000 Work Permits Issued for Domestic Employees in 4 Months

Al Absi discusses LMRA achievements with MP Ghazi Al Rahma

LMRA Chief Executive Officer Ausamah Al Absi received on Thursday 5th of February 2015, at his office, the MP Ghazi Al Rahma from the 4th district of the northern Governorate.

During his meeting The LMRA CEO pointed out the importance for ongoing coordination between the Executive and the legislative authorities in order to achieve the principal of partnership and cooperation between them which leads to serving the national interest and the interest of the citizens in all fields of development of the labour market in all sectors. He drew attention to the efforts of the LMRA to enhance the various services provided to customers and the employers as well as the foreign employees and to provide further facilities to speed up the processes.

Mr. Al Absi reviewed a number of achievements of LMRA in the past year among them, LMRA vetted 424,241 applications received in 2014 out of which 88% were completed in 3 days and 56% were processed in one day.

He added that the LMRA received 383,174 visitors who are benefiting from the Client Services at LMRA with the average time for each transaction for employers was 6 minutes and the average time for other services was 4 minutes whereas the average waiting time was 31 minutes.

Further achievement was in the Domestic Employees sector where 20,996 transactions were processed to issue work permits for Domestic Employees in the last 4 months out of which 13,689 transactions were carried out at the LMRA premises an 8313 were done through the LMRA remote offices at the Post offices. He pointed out that these figures are record number not achieved in the past years.

Also discussed during the meeting were the legal mechanisms through which the LMRA operates and the role of the Legislative Council to update laws to keep pace with the latest economic and labour changes in order to protect the Kingdom from any consequences that may happen.

For his part, MP Ghazi Al Rahma praised the LMRA efforts in the regulation of the labour market, and on the outstanding accomplishments that have been achieved over the past year, stressing the importance of coordination between the legislative and Executive authorities in the interest of all.
