Twitter user posing as Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) CEO Ausamah Al Absi’s had been making malicious statements online.
The account which goes by a similar name, @Ausama_Alabsi only lacked the letter ‘h’ from the original name. The account made many tweets that were on Mr. Absi’s real account. In some cases, it had even taunted individuals. One of them was aimed at CNN journalist Amber Lyon and imprisoned activist Nabeel Rajab.
The particular tweet stated, “@AmberLyon @NabeelRajab Keep on lying, you will never change the truth, there is no torture in #Bahrain at all.”
Mr. Al Absi, when contacted, said he had become aware of the account after several people had reported it. He had then tweeted a warning to others that someone was impersonating him on Twitter.
Even this tweet was repeated by the impersonator, which would have confused anyone who did not know the real account of the LMRA CEO.
Mr. Al Absi told DT that he had filed a case with Twitter and had managed to have the account closed, yesterday.
