The biometric information of over 90 per cent of expatriate workers in Bahrain has been collected by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). Biometric information including the fingerprints, photographs and electronic signatures of every expatriate worker whose visa is issued by the authority, is colected and stored in an LMRA database.

Head of Public Relations at LMRA, Waheed Al Balooshi, explained yesterday that the biometric data is collected once by the authority, how ever some employers send their employees to record their information again, especially at the termination of their contract or when changing to a new job.
