Officials from various embassies have begun touring the Kingdom along with representatives of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), taking part in road shows conducted by the authority, Radio Voice and Janatha Cultural Centre (JCC).

The Bahrain Tribune had first reported about the roadshows which use video messages from LMRA while embassy officials urged illegals to avail of the Easy Exit scheme. “We had Muhammad Ibrahim, First Secretary of Bangladesh Embassy, accompanying us on Thursday when we conducted an event in Manama near Police Fort,” Ameer Ali Paruvally, secretary of JCC and Public Relations head of Radio Voice, told the Bahrain Tribune.

An Indian embassy official was part of the group on Friday, when the team visited Muharraq, he added. Next weekend they expect an official from the Pakistan Embassy.

Discussions are also being held with missions of other nations to involve them in the programe.

The first video roadshow was held in Manama on July 9 and a thousand people gathered at the kiosk to listen to the messages. “The crowds for Thursday and Friday event were overwhelming and the response was just as good as before. On Thursday we got a lot of Bangladeshi nationals and they were attended to by Ibrahim,” Paruvally said.

Faiza Khan of LMRA is also present with the group as part of the event which includes screening of video messages from Ali Radhi and envoys of Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. A screen is specially installed to project the video messages.

The messages – in English, Hindi, Bangla, Malayam and Urdu – urge those residing in the Kingdom on expired visas to avail of the clemency.

There were also video clippings of people who had availed of the Easy Exit scheme. They recanted their experience of applying for the scheme and how it benefitted them.

The Easy Exit scheme was initiated by the government of Bahrain early this year. It allows expatriates who have overstayed their visas to leave without paying accumulated fines.
