LABOUR Minister Dr Majeed Al Alawi yesterday chaired the first co-ordination meeting at the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) headquarters in Sanabis.LMRA chief executive Ali Ahmed Radhi delivered an updated presentation on illegal workers, detailing efforts to combat this phenomenon, described as the “backbone of human trafficking”.
Ways of combating illegal workers and stamping out all forms of human trafficking also came under the spotlight. Present at the meeting were Justice and Islamic Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa and Health Minister Dr Faisal Al Hamer.
Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa delegated assistant under-secretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa. Public Security deputy chief Brigadier General Khalid Al Absi also attended. A report detailing the first co-ordination meeting will be submitted to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Supreme Commander.
The panel, to be chaired by the LMRA chief, comprises assistant under-secretaries representing Labour, Interior, Health, Justice, Municipalities and Agriculture and Industry and Commerce ministries, in addition to the General Prosecution.
