No personal touch

I appreciate that the LMRA is trying its best to improve services, and it has taken some good steps to develop the labour market. But without a good accounting system how do officials expect to handle the huge amount of money that is flowing in?

I have a small business with five employees. By mistake I paid labour fees for December twice.

I decided not to pay for January expecting the extra amount to be carried over.

But no, the LMRA’s accounting system doesn’t do that. I got the February invoice with BD10 penalty because I didn’t pay January fees. For God’s sake, can this be happening?

I approachd the LMRA a week ago hoping to meet someone to help me understand certain issues.

The receptionist told me that I could go to the computer (pointing to one) and get all the information I needed.

I told him that I prefer to speak to someone.

I am not computer literate, on the contrary I am really good at looking up information on the Internet, but I prefer to talk to a human being on some matters.

I kept asking the man at the reception in different ways to arrange for me to meet someone but his answer didn’t change throughout our discussion.

“Go to the computer,” he kept saying.

I understand that the computer has it all, but can’t the LMRA hire one person to meet people who need further explanation, or prefer human interaction? Please!
