New edict on LMRA fees

PRIME Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday issued an edict relating to fees levied by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).

According to the decision, fees will be reimbursed in full should the LMRA abrogate the work permit before the expatriate worker’s arrival.

Employers will also be repaid fees for remaining months if a worker switches to another employer before the expiry of his contract.

The LMRA will charge BD10 for each application for change of jobs.

A BD2 fine will be charged for each late payment of the monthly BD10 fee, with total accumulated fines not exceeding BD6.

The LMRA is officially commissioned to levy fees and fines on late payments.
