Helpless and confused

WHY is it that my company, a private hospital, is still holding on to our passports despite repeated calls and warnings from the Labour Ministry and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) that it is illegal and against international law?

Is my hospital employer immune to such laws that they don’t listen? Are the owners so powerful and influential that they really don’t care about human rights and international laws?

They keep on threatening employees that their serivices will be terminated and their salaries forfeited if they insist on getting back their passports.

They even challenged us to go on and report to the ministry or LMRA, telling us that the company was private and was not under any rule by any agency regarding its policies on employment of expatriates. We feel helpless and confused.

Mercy.
