{"id":3910,"date":"2020-02-18T09:15:25","date_gmt":"2020-02-18T06:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/?p=3910"},"modified":"2020-02-18T09:15:25","modified_gmt":"2020-02-18T06:15:25","slug":"new-offices-for-labour-disputes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/2020\/02\/18\/new-offices-for-labour-disputes\/","title":{"rendered":"New offices for labour disputes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/lmra1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3911\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/lmra1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/lmra1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/lmra1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/02\/lmra1-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>LABOUR complaints can now be filed at two new offices opened by the country\u2019s labour watchdog yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Labour Claims Departments\u2019 at the Expat Protection Centre in Sehla and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) branch in Riffa will register all labour-related disputes, including non-payment of wages.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The complainant will be given a case number and a court hearing date as soon as the grievance is recorded.<\/p>\n<p>The offices were officially inaugurated by Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa in the presence of LMRA chief executive Ausamah Al Absi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have an agreement with the ministry that on their behalf we will receive and submit labour disputes from employees to the ministry,\u201d Mr Al Absi told the GDN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny worker with a dispute of any kind now has a choice to visit the new offices in the Sehla and Riffa branches of LMRA instead of going to the labour court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr Al Absi pointed out that the offices will not deal with existing cases which are already in court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are just helping workers get their cases registered which we think will make life much easier for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Sehla and Riffa branches are easier to reach than the Diplomatic Area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have translators to help the workers and the LMRA\u2019s database will be available in these offices which will help easy access to details of the employee and employers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Al Absi, who is also chairman of National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons in Bahrain, said the plan to set up these offices was in the \u201cpipeline\u201d as part of the authority\u2019s efforts to ensure effective implementation of government directives to speed up procedures and increase co-ordination between government agencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also part of the government\u2019s strategic work programme to speed up the settlement of labour disputes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion, Shaikh Ali said the offices will contribute to speeding up the registration of labour disputes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis step paves the way to include a number of legal services related to labour disputes through a single point, which will enhance the effectiveness of judicial procedures and raise the efficiency of performance,\u201d he added, while appreciating the LMRA\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The offices will work five days a week, from Sunday to Thursday, from 8am to 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>raji@gdn.com.bh<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LABOUR complaints can now be filed at two new offices opened by the country\u2019s labour watchdog yesterday.
