{"id":3336,"date":"2016-12-15T10:28:18","date_gmt":"2016-12-15T07:28:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/?p=3336"},"modified":"2016-12-15T10:28:18","modified_gmt":"2016-12-15T07:28:18","slug":"salaries-in-bank-planned-for-maids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/2016\/12\/15\/salaries-in-bank-planned-for-maids\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Salaries in bank\u2019 planned for maids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/123.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3337\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/123.jpg\" alt=\"123\" width=\"1024\" height=\"585\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/123.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/123-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/123-500x286.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Employers may have to compulsorily transfer salaries of housemaids and unskilled workers directly into their bank accounts, according to a new plan by Bahrain\u2019s labour watchdog.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) was working on several projects for 2017, revealed chief executive Ausamah Al Absi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of our future projects planned for next year is the mandatory deposit of salaries of domestic workers and semi-skilled workers in their bank accounts by their employers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo more giving out cash from now on.<br \/>\n\u201cDepositing salaries in the bank accounts ensures transparency and fulfils contractual obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the monthly meeting of the Bahrain India Society (BIS) at the InterContinental Regency Bahrain, Mr Al Absi said the plan will be implemented in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that in future expatriate women may be able to sponsor their husbands as part of the new decisions.<\/p>\n<p>The husband will be issued a two-year dependant visa based on the income of the expatriate woman and her job profile, among other parameters.<\/p>\n<p>However, the husband on a dependant visa would not be allowed to take up employment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are sure these moves, when taken in addition to the previously announced flexible work permits system, will reinforce the kingdom\u2019s already bright reputation as a country that respects labour rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Al Absi pointed out that the flexible work permit scheme covers only illegal workers on record as of September 20 and not those who have fled from their sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>BIS chairman Mohammed Dadabhai said Bahrain has once again taken the lead in workplace reforms by acknowledging the rights of expatriate women.<br \/>\n\u201cThe new system unlocks new potential and energy for Bahrain and will allow businesses to access new talent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will further make businesses in Bahrain even more competitive.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Employers may have to compulsorily transfer salaries of housemaids and unskilled workers directly into their bank accounts, according to a new plan by Bahrain\u2019s labour watchdog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[11],"tags":[36,805,806,808,142,807,222,532,804],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.6 -
