{"id":3166,"date":"2016-01-04T11:46:24","date_gmt":"2016-01-04T08:46:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/?p=3166"},"modified":"2016-01-04T11:46:24","modified_gmt":"2016-01-04T08:46:24","slug":"lmra-stresses-amnesty-period-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/2016\/01\/04\/lmra-stresses-amnesty-period-success\/","title":{"rendered":"LMRA stresses amnesty period success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3071\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized.jpg\" alt=\"Ausamah(resized)\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Over 42,000 expatriate workers benefited from the six-month general amnesty for workers staying in Bahrain illegally, the CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority Ausamah Abdullah Al-Absi revealed.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Al-Absi added that 76% of those who rectified their legal situation preferred to stay in the kingdom, stressing, at the same time, zero-tolerance against violators.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A total of 42,019 foreign workers had benefited from the grace period which expired on December 31, 2015, which is an unprecedented achievement, Al-Absi said in a press conference marking the end of the amnesty period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">LMRA CEO expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to all sides which contributed to the success of the grace period, including the Interior Ministry&#8217;s Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and embassies of the countries of origin of workers, noting that the move will reflect positively on the performance of the kingdom&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">He explained that 76% of those who benefited from the grace, or 31,894 workers, preferred to stay in the kingdom after moving to new employers, while 24%, or 10,125, wanted to return to their home countries, adding that Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani workers, respectively, were the most beneficiaries of the amnesty period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Foreign workers&#8217; desire to stay in the kingdom confirms Bahrain&#8217;s status as being among the best countries for expatriates as shown in international reports in this regard.
