{"id":3125,"date":"2015-11-08T08:18:03","date_gmt":"2015-11-08T05:18:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/?p=3125"},"modified":"2015-11-08T08:18:03","modified_gmt":"2015-11-08T05:18:03","slug":"lmra-allows-under-travel-ban-expats-to-obtain-work-permits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/2015\/11\/08\/lmra-allows-under-travel-ban-expats-to-obtain-work-permits\/","title":{"rendered":"LMRA allows under travel ban expats to obtain work permits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3071\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized.jpg\" alt=\"Ausamah(resized)\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.lmra.gov.bh\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/Ausamahresized-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Ministry of Justice regarding expats with a court-ordered Travel Ban, where they will be allowed to obtain a Work Permit, and subsequently legalize their presence in the Kingdom.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The agreement pertains to those who are under a court-ordered travel ban due to financial debt or civil claims and are barred from leaving the kingdom until these debts are settled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">LMRA Chief Executive Ausamah Alabsi, who also chairs the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons thanked HE The Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowment Shaikh Khalid Bin Ali Al-Khalifa, for his understanding and humanitarian gesture, which will give a large number of expatriates the opportunity rectify their legal position, earn a living, and pay their debts in a manner corresponding with the laws of Bahrain, and at the same time protects them from being exploited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Mr. Alabsi further explained: &#8220;there will be no additional requirements or paperwork by the the LMRA for applications relating to such cases; it will be received and handled like any other application, and they can apply for either renewal of their work permits, or a new work permit with a new employer under the Mobility procedure&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">He added: &#8220;while the agreement with the Ministery of Justice, Islamic affairs and Endowment is valid indefinitely, it comes while there are still 7 weeks remaining in the Amnesty Period, thus poseing a great opportunity for this group of people to sort out their legal situation without further penalties or fees, and we ask them to avail of the time remaining&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Amnesty Period which started on July 1st and ends December 31st has so far attracted over 25,000 illegal workers to either find new legal employment, or leave the country with the possibility of returning in the future under new legal employment.
