More than 98 per cent of companies in the Kingdom have implemented the Labour Ministry’s ‘Summer Work Ban,’ which came into effect by the beginning of the month. Labour Ministry Undersecretary Sabah Al Dossary stated on Tuesday that the ministry officials paid inspection visits to 3077 establishments last week.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Mr. Al Dossary explained that only 54 violating establishments, consisting of 126 labourers, were detected in the fields visits. “Violators’ information will be refereed to the Public Prosecution as per legal procedures, “Mr. Al Dossary said.<\/p>\n
The undersecretary said that establishments should reschedule their working hours to comply with the allowed hours.<\/p>\n
The ‘Summer Work Ban’ prevents labourers to work in open areas, directly under the sun, between 12pm and 4pm.<\/p>\n
The ban is implemented during July and August, with the aim of avoiding the various dangers and negative effects that high temperatures could have on the workers’ health.<\/p>\n
Mr. Al Dossary has urged employers to commit to the ‘Summer Work Ban’ strictly for the labourers’ safety.<\/p>\n
