The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) issued a statement saying they are ready to use their fingerprint database to help identify expatriates.The statement was made in light of Mr Halim\u2019s death. The identity of the deceased was not available initially as he did not have a CPR or other identification.<\/p>\n
DT sought LMRA\u2019s help to identify the worker with the help of their fingerprint scanners. An LMRA staff member was dispatched with a portable scanner to the mortuary of the Salmaniya Medical Complex. However, Mr Halim\u2019s colleagues had identified him by that time.<\/p>\n
While the LMRA was not required in the identification, the authority though said that they were willing to help in any future identification processes as well. They said they were well equipped to do so as their database comprises thousands of fingerprints of expatriate workers. They also added that information regarding identification of expats was not limited to death cases only.<\/p>\n
All foreign workers in Bahrain are fingerprinted. The process is now conducted at the time of entry in Bahrain.
\nIn May, 2010, the LMRA was able to use their scanners to help identify a man who developed amnesia post an accident in December, 2009.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
