BAHRAIN must step up the battle against human trafficking, according to a new US State Department report.
The country remains on a special watchlist of nations being monitored for what action they are taking to combat the problem, despite issuing new guidelines on the employment conditions of migrant workers.

OPPONENTS to a tax on foreign workers have called off their weekly protests, but now hope to recruit thousands of Bahraini bosses into their campaign.

Private businesses were expected to resume their protest outside the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) for the fourth Sunday running yesterday.

Worker ‘wrongly jailed as runaway’

A CONSTRUCTION company in Bahrain has called for an investigation after one of its workers was allegedly wrongly jailed as a runaway.

Bangladeshi Sarwar Saker spent 10 days in Jaw Prison after being summoned to the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residency (GDNPR), when his employers applied to extend his residence permit (RP).
