The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has announced the launch of electronic services for Domestic Employee permits, which gives employers the ability to complete transactions electronically through the Expatriate Management System (EMS) without the need to visit the authority, while maintaining the option to apply in person at any of its branches for those who wish to do so.
Twenty-seven suspects have been referred to the Lower Criminal Court for allegedly supplying and employing workers without a licence and maintaining work permits without requiring them in violation of the law. Continue reading

Professional fishermen, who have defaulted on their monthly payments to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), will be issued with new work permits and licences as an interim measure, it was announced yesterday.
These steps will last for three months until a permanent solution is found to fishermen’s problems, said Labour Minister and LMRA chairman Dr Majeed Al Alawi.
