The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) will raise the money through the monthly levy of BD10 for each expatriate worker employed by the private sector.

TENS of thousands of ‘free visa’ workers still at large in Bahrain, a leading contractor claimed yesterday.
These men work mainly in the construction sector, switching from one employer to another, said the Bahrain Contractors Society.
First it was the Labour Ministry, with its weird policies that destroyed several small and medium size businesses in this country. Now it is the turn of the LMRA labour market to do the same.
Our company applied for 20 workers with the Labour Ministry along with all relevant documents showing jobs in hand etc, but they said they could give us work permits for only eight workers, that too if we hired about nine Bahrainis.

A BAN on hiring Bangladeshis might have been lifted, but potential recruits must fight through a cordon of red tape before being allowed into Bahrain once again.
Not only will Bangladeshis now have to provide a certificate of good conduct, but it must be issued by a government authority in Bangladesh and attested by the Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain before they can qualify for a visa.

EXPATRIATES whose residence permit (RP) expired this month still have a chance to stay in Bahrain, provided they have found a new employer, a top official has revealed.
The new employer should apply for the work visa at the Labour Market Regulatory Authority during the one-month grace period, said LMRA chief executive Ali Radhi.

NEW walk-in visas for Indians and Russians visiting Bahrain will boost business and tourism, a top official declared yesterday.
They will be granted two-week visit visas on arrival in Bahrain under a system being implemented “very soon”.
THE new walk-in visas were welcomed by Indian Ambassador Balkrishna Shetty said yesterday.
The decision is a reflection of the increasing ties and closeness, as well as the strong bond of understanding between India and Bahrain, he told the GDN.
