THE Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has come in for some criticism in recent weeks and I am sure that some of it is warranted. However, perhaps we should acknowledge that the task the LMRA has undertaken is huge, and there will always be teething problems with a project of this size.
Plea to reduce Bahrainisation
MANAMA: Gold traders have urged the Labour Market Regulatory Authority to reduce the rate of Bahrainisation in their sector.
They also requested the LMRA to treat them on equal footing with construction sector, claiming Bahraini jobseekers were not interested in the gold trade.

Earlier, I was paying approximately BD200 for a new work permit for two years, plus BD200 to get my application passed/service charge, and BD600 (BD100 x two Bahrainis’ salaries x three months). That equals BD1,000 for getting one work permit.

THE Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has accepted 31,648 applications until last Thursday, with 80 per cent of them being approved, new figures have revealed.
These included applications for new work visas and renewal of visas of employees and their dependents, said LMRA e-services and public relations manager Waheed Al Balushi.
