The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) received a delegation of US Congress staff, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at LMRA’s Expat Protection Centre.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts in enhancing the labour market, by developing as well as updating functions and procedures to ensure a stable work environment that preserves the rights of all parties is maintained. In addition, the Kingdom’s endeavors for Combatting Trafficking in Persons was also highlighted.
LMRA officials highlighted the Authority’s key projects and initiatives, as they also shed light on the objectives and key roles of the Centre, the first comprehensive and specialized facility of its kind in the Middle East region that provides multiple services such as counseling, legal support, as well as shelter for victims and potential victims of crimes of trafficking in persons.
The delegation was also appraised on the role of the Regional Centre of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combatting Trafficking in Persons in offering a solid base of regionally certified trainers, consisting of practitioners and first responders from several entities, and equipping them with the required skills to identify victims and potential victims of trafficking.
