The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) received a delegation of US Congress staff, in the presence of representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs at LMRA’s Protection and Grievances Centre.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts in developing a stable work environment that preserves the rights of all parties.
LMRA officials highlighted the Authority’s key projects and initiatives, including the recently launched Labour Registration Program, which aims to register workers in partnership with the private sector, as well as the Optional Insurance System for Domestic Workers and the Wage Protection System.
They also shed light on the objectives and key roles of the Protection and Grievances Centre, the first comprehensive and specialized facility of its kind in the Middle East region that provides counseling, legal services, shelter for victims and potential victims of crimes of trafficking in persons.
The delegation was also briefed on the role of the Regional Centre of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combatting Trafficking in Persons in offering a solid base of trainers who are regionally recognized in the field of combatting trafficking in persons.
